SILK & SHEETS

in this intimate series, I work with old sheet pieces my mother has kept and mended to excess. while I was staying in her place during the lock down in France, I transform them to a new life as an hommage to her at the end of her life.

Veils + fire

Works in silk of Lyon. It moves with the air movements. The silk is layered and burned giving the impression it is in fire. The quality of the silk gives a rich and alive monochrom, the pieces use the silk lightness, transparency, shine, folding, light & shadow, and the nobility and history of the fabric. It creates a frame of a beauty both sensual and violent and an ensemble of veils, allegory of one’s inner layers.

Silk of Lyon made in the 80’s for haute couture collections.

black : organza

silver : silk and lurex lamé
